5 minute DIY: wrapped hangers

In Germany the weather has been turning brisk and despite all my hopes for rainless days, I had to give in and clean out my closet to get ready for the chilly autumn days.  While doing so, I came accross lots of boring wire hangers amassed from the dry cleaners (Yes, I DO keep them, I know it is crazy!). Instead of throwing them away once and for all, I decided to make a super easy DIY project for a hanger makeover!

Why don't you join me for this crafty playtime?
Here are the steps:

Tie a knot at the top of the hanger and start wrapping around the hanger until you have completely cover the entire thing.

In order to make wrapping super easy u can roll up the wool yarn you need first over a pensil, and then start the procedure.

Apart from being just lovely, wrapped hangers prevent clothes from slipping off!

An extra nice tip: instead of wool yarn, you can use old fabrics cut into stripes. See here

Thank you for dropping by :)

  1. Hello Georgia,

Wanted to thank you for visiting my page and leaving a comment in one of my posts about Tuscany :)

My visit to yours looks timely as I have lots of wire hangers from my dry cleaners that need sorting out. I hate wire hangers. I've returned some to them but I still ahve lots sitting, or hanging, at home. Your idea is excellent! I'll take you up on that when I find the time.

    Have a lovely week :)

  3. Thank you, Georgia, for the idea! What is really crazy about those wire hangers is that you brought them all the way down from Italy!!! ;-D
The tip of using old fabrics is very interesting, since all wool that I found in Florence is quite expensive comparing to Russia where I used to buy it many years ago.
Someday I'll try some. Until then, I continue to bring them to the nice old lady from the laundry, since the sincere surprise of her pleased face makes my day every time I do so! :-D :-D

  4. Dear friend! This is brilliant! I am all about repurposing and to be honest with you most of the time use wire hangers in the garden to help support my plants as I find they do nothing for my clothes....this is so the answer!!! I love it and will now be doing this with all my hangers!! Thanks for sharing friend! Nicole xoxo
